THE DO’S AND DON’TS WHEN RECOVERING FROM ORAL SURGERY

You are more likely to require oral surgery if you have an impacted tooth that is trapped in the jawbone, a poorly positioned tooth that is damaging neighboring teeth, need a dental implant or if you need gum treatment. In adults, wisdom teeth are more susceptible to problems requiring oral surgery. Here are the dos and don’ts when recovering from oral surgery:
The Do’s
-Start taking prescription drugs immediately. After surgery, the area will be tender for a few days. You will need to ease the pain and discomfort. If your dentist prescribes painkillers, start taking them immediately after oral surgery. Do not wait until you begin to feel the pain and discomfort. If your dentist prescribes antibiotics, take them and ensure that you finish the entire course.
-Prop your head up using pillows. For the first night after the oral surgery, prop your head up using pillows to reduce excess bleeding and swelling.
-Eat soft foods (after the bleeding stops). “It is important that for the first two days or so, eat only soft food or drink liquids, said Mark Tilly from the dentist in Santa Clarita. You can go for soups, fruit milkshakes, mashed potatoes, yogurts, and smoothies.
-Rinse your mouth. Your dentist may advise you not to rinse your mouth for the first 24 hours after the oral surgery. After this, Pete from Dental SCV says to rinse your mouth gently 4 times a day. Use warm salt water. A teaspoon of salt in a glass of water will do. Rinse your mouth after every meal and snack. Ensure that you do not leave any bits of food around the surgical area. Sometimes, your dentist may recommend you to use a chlorhexidine rinse to kill all bacteria.
-Eat a balanced diet. A balanced diet supports the healing process. Go for foods that are rich in Vitamin A and C. You may also intake a Vitamin C supplement.
The Don’ts
-Do not use aspirin. Over the counter pain relief will do. Do not use aspirin. It will thin the blood resulting in bleeding from the mouth.
-Do not overexert yourself. Do not lift heavy things, bend over, or do strenuous exercise, for 2 to 3 days after the surgery.
-Do not take hot food or drinks. Keep hot food and drinks at bay, until the numbing wears off.
-Do not eat hard or crunchy foods. For 6 to 8 weeks after the oral surgery, do not chew hard or crunchy foods, especially around the area of surgery.
-Do not brush the surgical area or floss teeth around it. Wait for your dentist to give you the go ahead.
–Do not smoke or drink alcohol. Smoking and drinking alcohol will interfere with the healing process. The former can dislodge blood clots that result from the healing process. Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours after the surgery.
All in all, the above do’s and don’ts when recovering from oral surgery will allow you to heal quickly without complications.

BENEFITS OF VITAMIN IV THERAPY IN RECOVERY

IV (Intravenous Vitamin) Therapy is an effective method of delivering a safe and healthy dose of natural minerals, vitamins and other vital nutrients to your body directly into the bloodstream. Using vitamin IV therapy allows patients absorb 100% of the vital nutrients as it goes straight into the circulatory system. When nutrients and vitamins get absorbed through the process of digestion, our bodies lose a great portion of the nutrients we consume. A small intravenous catheter is placed into a vein temporarily, and the nutrients get administered slowly over a period of time which is dependent on the nutrients used. The nutrients are administered in a bag which is slowly dripped taking as little as 45-minutes and as much as 4-hours, depending on the solution being offered. Most IV drips take 1 to 2 hours. We offer various combinations, administered as intravenous infusions.

IV nutrient therapy quickly delivers precise therapeutic doses of minerals, vitamins, amino acids and other nutrients into the bloodstream. IV administration of nutrients can attain blood concentrations not achievable with oral (liquid or pills), or even IM (intramuscular) administration. This takes no toil on the part of the digestive system, which is an immense benefit for those who’ve digestive issues or who can’t tolerate oral supplementation. There’re also times when your body is so deficient that oral supplementation isn’t enough. Using the IV administration route allows for the maximum concentration of nutrients reaching the tissues needing them the most. When levels of energy are high and cells function well, patients are more likely to obtain recovery from acute chronic conditions such as depression, asthma, fatigue and more. Vitamin drip IV therapy (under supervised care) is able to positively impact many health conditions, such as (but not limited to):

* Boost Athletic Performance and Recovery: Whether you’re training for a 5K, marathon, triathlon, or other sporting event, a succession of IV therapy can help you take your athletic performance to the next level and reduce recovery time.
* Immune Support: Traveling, stressful events as well as working long hours may increase your risk of getting sick. You can prevent colds and flu through keeping your immune system strong using immune-enhancing minerals, vitamins, and herbs.
* Enhance Wound Healing: Optimize post-surgery recovery through giving your body ample amounts of specific vitamins and minerals that are involved in the process of wound healing.
* Optimize Health: For them already in good health, Intravenous Vitamin nutritional therapy can maintain or boost your nutritional status with formulas tailored to your individual needs.
* Treat-Specific Health Conditions: IV nutrient therapy can be quite effective for treating fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, headaches, PMS, malnutrition, diabetes, muscle tension and viral infections.
As with all IV treatments necessary blood work and an initial interview/exam with your doctor are required before any therapy can begin. Contact a specialist to schedule a consultation to determine whether IV Therapy is right for you.

RECOVERING FROM FACIAL PLASTIC SURGERY – NOT AS HARD AS IT SEEMS

As a patient, it is very important for you to understand that a plastic surgery is also a surgery. Like any other surgical procedure, it will also take a strain on your body. While the doctor is responsible for the surgery, you are responsible for your recovery. Don’t worry. This does not mean that recovering from facial plastic surgery is tough. Recuperation can be a breeze if you follow the standard cardinal tips that you are about to read.
Healing is about time
Since you will be away from your work and normal activities you tend to cut short or trim your convalescence period to get back to them early. Trying to get back into the swing of things before you are actually ready is the primary reason for your recuperation to take longer than expected. According to the Dr. Davis Nguyen, it is important to understand that the time for healing varies from person to person and it depends on the type of surgery you have had and on your daily routines. If you are at a job that is physically strenuous, you may need more time. Similarly, if you are concerned that no one knows that you had anything done on your face, you may need more recuperation time. Scheduling more recovery time than what is recommended will help you to have a stress-free experience.  For noninvasive surgery options it might make sense to look into procedures like Ultherapy that doesn’t require any recovery time.
Diet is key
If you think that you should go on a super low-calorie diet to maintain the ideal body weight for the surgery, you are sadly wrong. Nutrients, iron, proteins and fats help in your recovery. Eating a balanced diet will accelerate your recuperation and going on fad diets are counter-productive.
Plan your support team
Digesting the fact that this is one thing that you cannot do alone will help you. Pick your support team wisely as you will be spending most of your post-operative time with them. The degree of support you need depends on your family condition. If you have young children, old parents or pets at home you may need double the support. Ensure that your caregiver is actually someone who supports your decision to undergo a facial plastic surgery. You will not want him or her to have the “I told you so” look especially when things go wrong. You support team is the one who makes sure that you recuperate without any stress.
Follow all these post-operative instructions
– Drink plenty of non-carbonated, non-alcoholic and non-caffeinated fluids.
– Start with the prescribed ice packs.
– Start eating something light until you ease back into your normal eating habits.
– Avoid salt to prevent swelling.
– Don’t smoke. Smoking will weaken your abilities to heal.
Surprised that recovery is not only about what you do after the surgery? It is true as evident from these tips. If you get them right, you will be able to relax during the healing period and have a stress free time on your road to recovery.…

IDEAS OF HOW TO GET RID OF ACNE

Like every one regardless if you are a youth or an adult the chances are that you have had an episode of acne in your life. Below is guided on how to get rid of acne and avoid the embarrassment and potential comfort that comes with it.
The hormone testosterone indirectly causes acne. Testosterone helps the body’s sebaceous glands (in your skin) to produce sebum (an oily substance to waterproof your skin). Acne is caused when there is a sebum build up in the hair follicles. This can be because of excess sebum production, or external influences on the skin, such as oil, dirt, dead skin cells, make-up. When the hair follicles get blocked spots and acne breakout on the skin.
Acne is a lifelong condition, and there is no miracle cure to get rid of acne. However, if you follow the tips here, you will be able to reduce the severity of your acne outbreaks.
Dr. Mary Montgomery, a medical consultant for Quick Acne Fix advises, “The advice you always hear to do is not to touch your pimples. Do not touch them!” She laughed and went on to say, “However tempting it may be, the bacteria and oil on your hands will not do your acne any favors. Also if you squeeze a pimple, you may push the sebum further into the hair follicle which will cause the spot to become infected.
To prevent acne to get rid of acne you need to avoid oil-based products. Using water-based makeup, lotions, hair gels, mousses and sprays can prevent excessive oiliness of your skin which will block your pores and hair follicles, creating pimples. You can also get the oily skin from eating greasy foods and junk food, so these things are best avoided to control your acne.
Some soaps, cleansers, and facial scrubs claim to get rid of acne. While it is important to wash yourself regularly, like twice a day, these products tend to make the acne worse by causing your skin to become too dry and possibly cracked and painful which in turn will make your body produce more sebum to counteract this. Washing your face gently with a natural or gentle product is all that is required to stay clean.
Benzoyl peroxide, resorcinol, sulfur and salicylic acid are all substances which help eradicate the dead skin cells, oil and dirt which are the major causes of acne. These ingredients are present in many of the topical acne preparations which are available over-the-counter today. While effective against acne, they are strong and may irritate your skin. Speak to your doctor, dermatologist or pharmacist to get advice on the best, lowest-concentration product for you.
If you take birth control pills, your doctor may suggest changing the brand to one with fewer hormones to reduce your acne. You may also consider using other birth control measures. A dermatologist or your doctor may prescribe strong oral antibiotics if your acne is extreme or causes scars. Remember that these have common uncomfortable side effects, so their use needs to be monitored by your doctor.
By making sure that your body is capable of fighting an infection, you are half way to reducing your acne. A healthy lifestyle and a diet rich in nutrients and vitamins will surely help you to alleviate this skin infection. Follow these steps mentioned and you will get rid of your acne fast!…
